Last month Debenhams were offering a £5 gift card when you placed an order of £30 or more. As it happens, I ended up spending that on holiday clothes and my voucher was sent to me last week. I was then faced with the challenge of deciding what to spend it on, and in the end I opted with one of the new Dior Fluid Sticks in the shade Rieuse. I hadn't heard much about these with them being new, and finding good swatches of every shade online was quite the task.
I'll start off with the packaging. The product itself sits inside quite a bulky tube which is shaped like a lipstick, however the top twists off and reveals a soft foam applicator to allow for precision when applying. It's also lightly scented. I don't own any other Dior lip products but these in particular have quite a nice sweet scent, nothing too off-putting.
Rieuse is a very summery pink-coral, something I'd normally avoid on my lips as I tend to prefer deeper shades, but something about this colour stood out. I actually really like it, too. The formula of this is where it shines though. It's water based, so it feels light and fresh on the lips rather than heavy and it has a pleasant cooling sensation. It does feel slightly wet when applied, but application is a dream and it just glides on.
The pigmentation is great, like that of a lipstick, but it remains glossy without any stickiness. After a couple of hours it dies down to a stain, supposedly comparable to the YSL glossy stains (I don't own any so can't compare). The only downfall is - you guessed it - the price tag. A whopping £26. That being said, I'm left wanting more of the shades from the line and I might just have to treat myself to another in Florida.
If you're after the perfect lipstick/lipgloss hybrid, I'd wholeheartedly recommend checking these out!
